Sautéed Green Beans with Garlic

Serves 4 in about 20 minutes. The pot starts with butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 pounds green beans (trimmed)
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (pressed or minced)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Method

  1. Stir in the green beans a large skillet. Stir in water and cover with a lid and cook over a lively medium heat until the beans start to soften, about 3 minutes.
  2. Drain the water and return the skillet to the stove. Stir in the butter and stir until melted and the beans are coated.
  3. Tip in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 instant, while stirring often.
  4. Tip in salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using. Stir.
  5. Lift out from the heat and serve immediately.
