Sweet Potato Fries with Cumin

Serves 4 in about 24 minutes. An air fryer recipe built around smoked paprika and chili powder.

Ingredients

  • 2 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin

Method

  1. Peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into 1/4 inch thick fries. Set in a gallon size zipper storage bag.
  2. Tip in the oil to the bag and move the fries around in the bag until all are coated in the oil. Use a little more oil if necessary.
  3. Stir the spices together in a small bowl. Then sprinkle over the fries in the bag. Move the fries around to coat evenly with the spices.
  4. Heat the air fryer by running it for a couple of minutes at 400° F.
  5. Stir in half of the sweet potato fries to the basket and space them apart so there can be air flow around them. If too crowded thy won't get crisp. Depending on the size of your sweet potatoes, you may need 3 batches.
  6. Air fry at 400° F for 8 to 10 minutes. Shake the basket halfway through cook time (be careful, hot basket!).
  7. Repeat with the next batch.
  8. Plate hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
